Typical Stationary Dock Configuration
The below image shows how a typical stationary dock might be configured, with a wooden ramp, and three sections that use corner sockets to support the dock using driven 1.5″ Schedule 40 pipe.
Stationary to Floating Wood Docks
Consider using stationary pipe docks to act as a stable walkway to a floating system. The stationary sections give strength and stability to the anchored floating dock in many situations.
The above floating dock connected to stationary dock is only recommended in calm locations. In windy locations up to 6′ deep, stationary docks work better for allowing waves to pass under.
Why make a pipe leg dock?
Pipe leg docks are the ideal docking solution for temporary docks in water less than eight feet deep. They are stable, lighter weight, and easy to store, and are strong enough to use as a permanent dock where ice is not present and where permitting allows. Pipe leg docks offer infinite adjustment with set screws, which can be helpful in waters that fluctuate, or on soil that is soft where settling can be problematic.
You can purchase complete dock sections from us, or use our free dock plans to build your own. Just click on Dock Plans in the Dock Hardware Menu above.
Construction Methods
The most basic and preferred constructions method utilizes pipe brackets in conjunction with clamp on braces. Brackets and braces offer a lower cost, while stanchions provide more stability, easier installation, and they help to guide your pipe legs straighter. Stanchions will put the braces on the dock before installation, so you do not have to dive to tighten bolts underwater, also leaving fewer things to assemble and take apart on annual installs and removals.
Bracing
We suggest adding corner bracing or additional longitude bracing is to the end of a stationary pier if you are attaching a floating ramp or gangway. The extra bracing resists forces on the floating dock.
Accessories
You have many options for accessories to a stationary pipe dock. These include: benches, ladders, mooring whips, dock tie-down cleats, bumpers, edge guard, wood post covers, landscape stairs, water stairs, and solar dock lights.
Shipping
We ship our products using UPS Ground, Freight, or LTL. To determine the best shipping method, we review the parts ordered, the size of the final package, and the quantity. If desired, you can contact our team to receive an accurate total that includes shipping. Though this process takes more time, our team takes these steps to ensure absolute accuracy as we ship products of many different sizes. Despite this, we strive to make every sale as efficient as possible out of respect for your time.
Our Showroom in Naples Maine has many more items available. These items are larger and may require special attention for calculating shipping. As an example, we recommend local pickup for longer braces, pipe legs, and dock flotation. Our team ships these oversized items, or you can pick them up in our showroom. We are located at 1114 Roosevelt Trail, in Naples Maine.
X-Braces and Corner Braces
Our Hook-N-Lock Bracing system takes the hassle out of bracing your pipe leg dock.
