1. Aluminum Frame Docks, Stairs, and Aluminum Accessories

Limited Warranty for Great Northern Docks

Great Northern Docks, Inc. (“Great Northern Docks”) provides the following limited warranties to the original purchaser of Great Northern Docks products purchased new from Great Northern Docks or an authorized dealer. This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original purchaser. Each product category has its own coverage, duration, and conditions, summarized below.


1. Aluminum Frame Docks, Stairs, and Aluminum Accessories

1.1 Coverage

  • Aluminum frames and welds: 15 years from delivery, free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use in accordance with instructions.
  • Polyethylene floats: 5 years.
  • Other components: 5 years, except fasteners, hardware, or parts covered by manufacturer warranty.
  • Decking products carry manufacturer warranties:
    • TanDeck®: 50 years
    • Lumberock®: Lifetime
    • SunWalk®: 12 years
    • ThruFlow®: 12 years

1.2 Exclusions

  • Cedar decking, cosmetic aluminum damage (scratches, dents, discoloration), or moderate corrosion in salt/brackish water.
  • Bolts, fasteners, and pipe require periodic maintenance (e.g., greasing set screws). Failure to maintain may void warranty.
  • Damage from improper use, installation, overloading, neglect, accidents, unauthorized repairs/modifications, snow, ice, severe weather, or acts of nature.
  • Floating docks and hinges not warranted for waves exceeding 12 inches.

1.3 Remedies

  • Repair, replacement, or credit (F.O.B. Naples, Maine).
  • Customer must notify Great Northern Docks in writing within 30 days of defect discovery.
  • All repairs must be performed by Great Northern Docks.

2. Dock Hardware & Aluminum Accessories

2.1 Coverage

  • 5-year warranty against defects in material or workmanship under normal use in fresh water.
  • Applies only to workmanship in wood components; wood material itself is not covered.
  • Synthetic materials carry only the manufacturer’s warranty.

2.2 Exclusions

  • Unauthorized repairs/modifications.
  • Driving caps and galvanized finishes.
  • Damage from misuse, overloading, or improper installation.

2.3 Remedies

  • Repair or replacement (F.O.B. Naples, Maine) of defective products.
  • Products must be returned freight prepaid with proof of purchase and written description of the defect.

3. Guardian and Other Dock Bumpers

3.1 Coverage

  • 1-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.

3.2 Exclusions

  • Labor or costs for removal, reinstallation, or shipping beyond returning the product to Great Northern Docks.
  • Improper installation, misuse, overloading, abuse, environmental damage, cosmetic/normal wear, unauthorized alterations.

3.3 Remedies

  • Repair or replacement of defective bumpers.
  • Prior contact with Great Northern Docks required for RMA authorization; proof of purchase and description of defect required.

4. MPD Modular Plastic Dock Units

4.1 Coverage

  • 20-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use and in accordance with instructions and product specifications.

4.2 Exclusions

  • Normal wear, improper installation, misuse, overloading, vandalism, severe weather, impact from watercraft or debris, animals, unauthorized modifications, improper repair.

4.3 Remedies

  • Repair or replacement at Great Northern Docks’ discretion.
  • Purchaser responsible for shipping, removal of defective units, and installation of repaired or replacement units.

5. Limitation of Liability

  • Remedies described above are the exclusive remedies for all product defects.
  • Great Northern Docks is not liable for incidental, indirect, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of use, lost revenue, or lost profits.
  • Maximum liability is limited to the original purchase price of the defective product.

6. Owner Responsibilities & Compliance

  • Follow all product instructions, maintenance requirements, and storage guidelines.
  • Replace or maintain hardware and fasteners as recommended.
  • Store products properly to prevent water pooling, freezing, or warping.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and permit requirements before installation.

7. Third-Party and Branded Products

  • Some products sold under the Great Northern Docks brand may be manufactured by third parties based on designs created by Great Northern Docks or may contain components produced by third parties.
  • Great Northern Docks warrants that these products meet the design specifications and are free from defects in materials or workmanship as manufactured, for the warranty period stated on their respective product pages.
  • Customers should refer to any manufacturer-provided warranty details included with the product for additional terms or limitations specific to the manufacturer.
  • Claims for such products should be submitted to Great Northern Docks, which will coordinate repair, replacement, or credit with the manufacturer.
  • Great Northern Docks does not assume liability beyond the repair or replacement of defective products and is not responsible for performance or durability outside of the stated warranty terms.

8. Entire Agreement

  • This Limited Warranty is the sole and exclusive warranty provided by Great Northern Docks.
  • All other warranties, express or implied (including merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose), are expressly disclaimed, except where required by applicable law.
